About Me
Hey, I'm Winter! I'm a singer/songwriter from the small college town of Athens, Ohio. Now based in Nashville, TN, I juggle my job in climate technology with my passion for songwriting.​ My genre combines singer/songwriter, folk and occasionally r&b. Some of my favorite artists include Stevie Wonder, Carol King, Aretha Franklin, Donovan Woods, Daniel Caesar, Sara Bareilles and more. I'm a classically-trained pianist and taught myself guitar, and have been writing and singing my own music for nearly a decade. Thanks for joining me on this journey, and it's nice to meet you.
My Story
The summer between seventh and eighth grade, while I was spending time on the west coast, I was attending an event where I met a woman named Michelle. Michelle was a singer/songwriter with a bright red guitar and the confidence I could only dream of having. As a lanky teen still getting used to my skin, watching Michelle get up and sing in front of a group of people seemed to me to be the utmost picture of "cool." As I tried to put my finger on what it was that made her so confident it hit me:

Having come to that conclusion, I grabbed my piggy bank, rushed to the nearest guitar store and bought my bright, cherry red Fender guitar. Little did I know that moment would launch me into one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Obviously, the guitar was just the start of my journey into developing my confidence as a creative and singer-songwriter. But I still like to credit the instrument that has been with me from the beginning of my songwriting career. In reality, I think it was just reminding me of the way I used to dance to the Chicago soundtrack in my PJ onesies as a toddler. Or how my dad, little sister and I used to make Christmas albums for family members, which were especially cute in my lisp days. Or the decade of classical piano lessons I took, and the years I played trombone until I grew taller than the instrument itself.

Today, I'm attending graduate school at Yale's School of the Environment and trying to keep up with my music pursuits at the same time. When I'm not studying, you can find me in Nashville over breaks cowriting, playing writers rounds and collaborating with other artists. A dream of mind would be to be the "Michelle" to another young and curious artist. In the meantime, thanks for following along on my journey.
